Our Ultrasound Services

We offer both cardiac and abdominal (included pregnancy) ultrasound examinations to help diagnose a wide range of health conditions in your pet:

  • Cardiac Ultrasound (Echocardiography)
Used to detect heart murmurs, structural abnormalities, or signs of heart failure. This type of ultrasound is especially valuable for older pets or animals showing symptoms like fatigue, coughing, or breathing difficulties.
  • Abdominal Ultrasound
Allows us to closely examine organs such as the liver, spleen, kidneys, and bladder when illness, inflammation, or tumors are suspected.
  • Pregnancy Diagnosis
Ultrasound can help confirm pregnancy and give an early estimate of how many puppies or kittens your pet is expecting.

How Does an Ultrasound Work?

During an ultrasound examination, a small area of your pet’s abdomen or chest is shaved, and a special gel is applied to the skin. Our veterinarian then uses a handheld probe (called a transducer) that emits high-frequency sound waves. These sound waves bounce off the internal organs and tissues, and the returning echoes are translated into clear, real-time images on a monitor. The procedure is completely painless, non-invasive, and typically takes just 20 to 30 minutes.

Why Choose Ultrasound?

  • Safe and Non-Invasive: Ultrasound is a gentle, painless, and completely safe way to examine your pet’s internal health—without the need for surgery or exposure to radiation.
  • Fast and Reliable: It provides quick, accurate results, allowing for early diagnosis and timely treatment when it matters most.
  • Detailed Insights: Ultrasound delivers high-quality images of your pet’s internal organs, offering valuable information to help us better understand their condition.

What to Expect

Our team includes two experienced veterinarians specially trained in performing ultrasounds. Your pet’s comfort is our priority, and we take great care to ensure they feel safe and relaxed throughout the procedure. No special preparation is usually required for an abdominal or cardiac ultrasound. However, in some cases, we may advise fasting your pet beforehand to improve image quality. During the exam, your pet will rest in a specially designed cushion that keeps them in a comfortable position while we perform the ultrasound. Once the images have been reviewed, we’ll take the time to discuss the findings with you in detail. If further treatment or additional testing is needed, we’ll guide you through the next steps to ensure your pet receives timely and effective care.
