Castration
Castration is a routine surgical procedure that helps prevent unwanted litters and supports your pet’s long-term health. During the procedure, the hormone-producing organs (testes in males, ovaries in females) are removed. In addition to preventing reproduction, castration can reduce certain behavioral issues and significantly lower the risk of various health problems, such as uterine infections, mammary tumors, and testicular cancer.

Laparoscopic Castration for Female Dogs
At our Diessen location, we offer laparoscopic castration—a modern, minimally invasive surgical technique performed using advanced, specialized instruments. This method promotes faster recovery, less pain, and a lower risk of complications compared to traditional surgery.
What Is Laparoscopic Castration?
Laparoscopic surgery, also known as minimally invasive surgery, is performed through small incisions in the abdominal wall. A laparoscope—a thin tube equipped with a camera—allows us to clearly view the internal organs on a screen. This enhanced visibility allows for more precise surgery, with less manipulation of the ovaries. As a result, your dog experiences less discomfort and heals more quickly. Laparoscopy is widely used in veterinary medicine for procedures involving the gallbladder, stomach, intestines—and, of course, the uterus.
Is My Dog a Candidate?
Laparoscopic castration is suitable for female dogs weighing 10 kg or more. For dogs under 10 kg, suitability will be assessed in consultation with one of our veterinarians. We recommend scheduling the procedure two to three months after your dog’s (first) heat cycle, when the uterus is in its calmest state—ideal for surgery.
Scheduling and Appointments
Laparoscopic castrations are performed only on Monday mornings at our Diessen location. To ensure availability, please contact us in advance to make an appointment.
